FACULTY FILM WORLD PREMIERE JANUARY 18 IN NEW YORK | PENN STATE UNIVERSITY


In his final role, actor Lynn Cohen will play Marche alongside the late poet Venus Thrash in “Castles in the Sky.” Cohen died in 2020 and Slash in 2021.

The film crew included many Gluck students working alongside award-winning film professionals. Penn State alumni currently working in the film industry were associate producer Morgan Safe (class of 2021), editor Alan Guerrero (class of 2017), and title designer and animator Jessica Snyder (class of 2022). .

The film was made possible in part by Gluck’s Bellisario Career Advancement Professorship and a grant from Penn State University’s Jewish Studies Program.

Gluck’s work has appeared in Sundance, Tribeca, Cannes Film Festival and PBS. She recently returned from a Fulbright R&D sabbatical in Israel and Poland.

Her first documentary feature film, Divan (2004), was released theatrically at New York City’s Film Forum, broadcast on the Sundance Channel, and screened at national and international festivals. Her second feature film, ‘The Turn Out’ (2019), is a hybrid film dealing with sex trafficking in a local truck her stop.

Gluck’s fictional short films Where Is Joel Baum (2012), Junior (2017), Summer (2018) and Write Me (2019) won three Best Actress Awards doing.
