The surgery capped an intense period for the star, who first came to prominence in the 1988 film Beetlejuice.
After 42-year-old cinematographer Halina Hutchins was shot dead with a prop gun on the set of The Western Last in October 2021, he faced massive surveillance.
Although he pleaded not guilty, he was charged with two counts of manslaughter in late January, but those charges were dropped last month.
He then returned to the film set and posted a fan post thanking him for his support during the start of filming.

Alec is already working on other projects, including a movie about a school shooting called Kent State.
